Offsite Dirt speaks with Matt O’Malia of OPAL Architecture. OPAL is described as a design-build firm that uses high performance principles, materials, and a passive house built panel system.
The post says OPAL asks, “What if our buildings could improve the world?” It says the firm is designing and building projects with safe, sustainable products.
The conversation includes the “Little House on the Ferry” project and other designs created using CLT products.
The post also covers Timber HP, described as a startup company and the first of its kind in the United States offering wood fiber insulation products.
Its manufacturing plant was scheduled to open in May 2023.
The products are made in a retrofitted old paper mill building in Madison, Maine. The post says the building is now reborn, creating new jobs and supporting a sustainable insulation product for projects, homes, and multifamily residences.
