Overview

Wesco is a global supply chain solutions provider. It worked with a national specialty chain on an Assembled Electrical Solution.

The project reduced the retail chain’s backroom footprint by more than 40%. It also reduced installation time by 30%.

The specialty chain needed to reduce the size of its electrical room while maintaining system integrity.

Loose panel boards were in a main electrical room.
An individually mounted time clock controlled lighting contractors.
Floor-mounted UPS systems were used.
Checkout, network, and other critical receptacles needed clean power and backup power.
HVAC controls were on a separate board with contractors completing the system.

Wesco worked with the retail client and its prime design engineer.

The team used the Assembled Electrical Solution with solenoid-operated smart breakers as a building block.

HVAC controllers and UPS systems were integrated into the assembly.
Contractors and interposing relays were eliminated from the lighting control scheme.
Labor required for installation was reduced.
A transformer and UPS were integrated into the unit.
MDP feeder breakers were factory wired before shipment.
Feeder panel boards were integrated into the assembly.
Critical components such as the UPS were pre-wired.
The time clock function came from the system controller.
