What attracted her to the role

Sandra Henry said she connected with Slipstream while working as a ComEd Senior Program Manager. She said she admired Slipstream’s mission and vision and saw it grow into a national thought leader that accelerates climate solutions for everyone.

She said the timing is right for Slipstream to drive down carbon footprints in ways that foster justice and equity.

Goals for the next 24 months

• Build a strategic plan for the next three years.
• Include input from everyone at Slipstream.
• Use the plan to guide five- and ten-year visions.
• Keep offering solutions for everyone, not only those who can fund their own clean energy future.
• Position Slipstream as an innovator for climate solutions and a collaborator on difficult climate and equity challenges.

How Slipstream impacts others

Slipstream works to accelerate climate solutions for all and to support the IPCC goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The organization does this through research, programs, finance, and education and training.

• Research guides decarbonizing buildings at scale.
• Programs help utilities and governments design healthier, safer, more resilient buildings.
• Finance supports inclusive ways to fund clean energy and energy-efficient upgrades.
• Education and training keep building professionals up to date on clean energy technology.

Partnerships

Sandra Henry said Slipstream actively seeks partners. She said the mission cannot be achieved alone and that collaborative design is needed so solutions work for everyone.

• Say yes to new opportunities.
• Build a strategic support network and keep developing it.
• Seek different mentorship and support at different career stages.
• Be intentional about the outcomes you want for your career.
• Name those goals to anyone who will listen.
