Training overview

In 2021, the author traveled to Colorado for another builder training program. The training focused on passive house. It was delivered by Enrico Bonilauri and Mariana Pickering of Emu Systems.

• Mock-up exercises and team competition.
• Choices of air control layers, tapes, membranes, insulation windows, and WRB.
• Daily team work to move through the mock-up stages.
• Questions and answers, including “what if” scenarios.
• An online course before the in-person training.

Project walkthrough

After a full day of class, the group visited a multi-unit passive house project. The building was wide open on the interior and had recently been air sealed with Zip System on the exterior.
