Fast Factory Installation & Field Commissioning with the Unico Modular

Because the key components of The Unico System – our air handlers, plenum, and supply ducting - are so compact and low-profile, they can be quickly and easily installed at the modular manufacturer’s factory and quickly connected and commissioned onsite.

Working with modular makers and builders in past applications, our Unico Modular Team has developed a fast and efficient method that equates to minimal labor at all stages. Connecting The Unico System tubing to the pre-installed second floor runs typically takes a single laborer less than an hour.  You can see the procedure here.  In this home, in the Black Street development built by Module builders in Pittsburgh, four of the eight Unico System outlets for the second floor were connected in 2 minutes and 47 seconds. 

In modular applications, our 3.5-inch x 14.5-inch low-profile Unico System plenum is installed in the interstitial spaces between modules at the factory. Our team will provide the modular manufacturer with an overall design plan to determine the best placement of the air handling unit(s) and an overall layout of the plenum and supply ducting. Our modular home experts will work with the manufacturer to provide guidance and training for all factory-installed components.

Once the main plenum is in place, our team will provide guidance on plenum take-offs and situation of The Unico System’s flexible supply tubing, which can be installed in floor, ceiling, and wall panels.

After the home’s modules are transported to the build site, our team will train your builders and subcontractors on connection of the supply tubes, installation of the outlets, placement of the air handling unit(s) (typically in a small closet reserved for mechanical equipment), placement of the appropriate outdoor unit, and piping and commissioning of all.
