As we step into 2025, the Offsite Dirt Network had the opportunity to dive into the training culture at Unico, Inc.—a company that’s redefining HVAC education and customer experience from the inside out. In a candid conversation with Scott Intagliata, Chief Marketing Officer and co-owner of Unico, Inc., we explored how training programs aren’t just a value-add—they’re a strategic foundation for product excellence and customer satisfaction.
A Culture Built on Continuous Learning
“Training is one of the fundamental activities for any manufacturer,” Scott says. And Unico walks the talk. From detailed in-person sessions to flexible on-demand learning modules, the company’s approach to knowledge-sharing reflects its commitment to product quality and long-term customer success.
At the heart of this philosophy is the Unico’s in-house training center, which welcomes up to 21 participants per session. These sessions range from short three-hour intros to comprehensive three-day bootcamps—all designed and led by National Trainer, Matt Gordon. Attendees roll up their sleeves, assemble systems, analyze best practices, and leave equipped to tackle both residential and commercial HVAC projects.
Training That Goes Beyond the Classroom
The Unico System doesn’t limit training to their facility. In 2024, over 1,200 professionals were trained in the field through satellite programs hosted by distributor partners and manufacturer’s reps. These reps bring hands-on education directly to job sites or local hubs, ensuring contractors get the right information, at the right time, in the right place.
“Sometimes it’s as informal as a rep showing up at 3 p.m. after work hours to walk a contractor through a system,” Scott explains. But whether casual or structured, every interaction reinforces Unico’s mission of empowering contractors and field professionals with reliable knowledge.

A Digital Edge: Unico University
In today’s fast-paced world, online learning is key—and the Unico, Inc. delivers through Unico University, its free digital learning platform available at unicosystem.com/unico-university/. With over 200 hours of self-paced content, from 10-slide intros to 8-hour deep dives, learners can study from their desktop, tablet, or smartphone.
Each module ends with a test to ensure understanding and grants a certification—giving users not just information, but verified competence. In 2024 alone, over 2,000 users logged in, with more than 1,200 completing full courses.
Weekly Webinars with Real-Time Value
Unico also offers weekly webinars—a hit among those seeking clarity on major industry shifts like the refrigerant transition to A2L types (R-454B, R-32). Every Friday, contractors, installers, and reps tune in live to ask questions, learn best practices, and understand how Unico’s systems evolve with regulation.
Another popular webinar series covers changes to Unico’s supply tubing—one more example of how the company keeps its partners informed and empowered in real time.
And just in time for summer, Matt is kicking off his popular webinar series once again! This season, he's rolling out a set of quick, 30-minute pre-recorded classes focused on “hot topics” around The Unico System and the broader HVAC industry—perfect for busy pros who want to stay ahead without blocking out their whole afternoon.
Supporting Modular Builders from the Factory Floor
Perhaps one of Unico’s most forward-thinking moves is its hands-on support for modular construction. As the industry grows, Unico meets builders where they are—literally. Company reps travel to modular factories to guide installations on the ground, streamlining the process for factory teams and enhancing ease of integration.
“Once we show builders how Unico fits into modular builds and how it cuts site commissioning time by up to 90%, it changes the game,” Scott shares.
Looking ahead, Unico plans to launch a full modular training suite by the end of 2025—proof that innovation and education continue to go hand in hand.
Final Thoughts
At Unico, training isn’t just about delivering information—it’s about building a culture of confidence, consistency, and connection. Whether you're a contractor, modular builder, or distributor, the tools are there to help you succeed.
“Training equals better installs, which equals better customer experiences,” Scott concludes. And it’s that simple formula that keeps Unico ahead of the curve—and ready to support the evolving construction landscape in 2025 and beyond.
