Audree Grubesic interviews Kim Bos, who works in business development at SUMMIT Engineering, Laboratory & Testing, Inc. Bos discusses her move into construction, the support she received from women in the industry, and her goals as SUMMIT grows in Greenville, SC.
Bos said women with long construction careers encouraged her to stay on this path. She named Christi Powell of 84 Lumber, Angela Gardner of Hill Electric, and Rachel Veltri of Neves Construction. She said they helped her continue after a temporary role during the pandemic and encouraged her to accept SUMMIT’s offer.
She wants to learn as much as possible about the industry and collaborate with her team during the company’s merger with UES.
Her advice is direct: “You can do ANYTHING! Just go for it!” She said women should be confident in their expertise and the value they bring.
She enjoys meeting new people, learning new things, and helping the company grow. She cited the film Hacksaw Ridge and the prayer “Lord, help me get one more” as a guiding inspiration for her work in business development.
Bos said her team values and respects one another and everyone they meet in business. She described the company as grounded in excellence, including its team, work, and customer service.
