On September 18, 2026, we gathered in Denver, Colorado, for the Offsite Construction & Leadership Series, powered by Becoming Human Again Events. The theme for the day was Agency, Learning, and Leadership in a Disruptive World, and what unfolded throughout the event was exactly what we hoped to create: a place where conversations about construction, business, leadership, and people could come together. Denver Schedule & Sponsors 9_17

Our industry spends a tremendous amount of time talking about projects, schedules, budgets, technology, labor, materials, manufacturing, and productivity. Those conversations are necessary, but behind every project, company, factory, and new technology are people making decisions and working together. This series was created to expand the conversation by exploring not only what and how we build, but how we lead, communicate, collaborate, and navigate change while doing it.

The feedback from Denver was outstanding. There was an openness in the room that encouraged people to participate rather than simply sit and listen. Our speakers brought professional expertise along with personal experiences, lessons learned, and different perspectives from across the construction industry. Attendees had opportunities to meet one another, exchange ideas, ask questions, and think differently about leadership and the future of offsite construction.

That combination of industry education, leadership development, meaningful connection, and personal awareness is what we want the Offsite Construction & Leadership Series to continue creating.

Where Offsite Construction Meets Leadership

Construction is changing rapidly. Offsite manufacturing, modular construction, prefabrication, automation, artificial intelligence, new technologies, workforce challenges, and evolving project delivery methods are creating tremendous opportunities while also requiring companies and leaders to adapt.

As an industry, we are investing heavily in better ways to build. At the same time, we also need to invest in the people responsible for leading those changes. Technology can improve a process, but people still need to make decisions. A factory can become more efficient, but people still need to work together. A project can have an excellent design, but communication, coordination, and relationships ultimately influence how successfully that design moves from plans to production and into the field.

The Offsite Construction & Leadership Series, powered by Becoming Human Again Events, creates a place where those two sides of our industry can exist in the same conversation. We can discuss modular construction, project execution, workforce development, prefabrication, architecture, technology, and innovation while also exploring leadership, culture, awareness, communication, decision-making, and human connection.

An Incredible Group of Speakers

Our Denver speakers brought very different experiences to the stage, which made the day especially meaningful. Ryan Ware opened the program and set the tone for the conversations ahead. Ed DeAngelis explored the idea of changing a workforce into a culture with humanity as a strategy, while Matt McMullen shared the impact of modular architecture through the Trailhead Community. Andrea Janzen challenged attendees with an important question: Are we developing the leaders we need?

The afternoon expanded the conversation even further. CJ Myrick shared an owner's representative perspective on successful modular construction projects, and Cody Roberdeau discussed interior prefabricated construction solutions. Paul Grubesic presented The One-Third Difference, and I had the opportunity to introduce Part 1 of The Coherence Arc, focusing on awareness and how greater internal clarity can influence the way we lead, communicate, make decisions, and respond to the people and situations around us.

Although every speaker approached the day from a different perspective, the conversations connected in an important way. Successful construction is not only about having the right product, system, technology, or process. It also depends on our ability to work together, communicate clearly, understand different perspectives, make thoughtful decisions, and create environments where people have an opportunity to contribute and succeed.

A sincere thank you to Ryan Ware, Ed DeAngelis, Matt McMullen, Andrea Janzen,

CJ Myrick, Cody Roberdeau, and Paul Grubesic for saying yes to this experience. Thank you for bringing your knowledge, time, experiences, and willingness to have conversations that extended beyond a traditional construction presentation.

Building Stronger Connections

One of the most important parts of the day wasn't a presentation. It was creating opportunities for people to actually meet and talk with one another. We intentionally incorporated structured speed networking into the program, along with additional networking at the end of the event.

Our industry is built on relationships. Manufacturers need architects and engineers. Developers and general contractors need manufacturing and installation partners. Suppliers need to understand the realities of production. Transportation and set crews need to be integrated into planning. Technology providers need to understand what actually happens inside factories and on jobsites. Successful offsite construction requires an ecosystem of people and companies working together.

When we create an environment where people can move beyond exchanging business cards and actually have a conversation, something different begins to happen. Someone you meet may become a future partner, client, mentor, resource, or friend. A conversation may lead to a new project, solve a challenge, introduce a different way of thinking, or simply provide the perspective someone needed at that moment.

That is why connection isn't something we want to squeeze in between presentations. Connection is part of the program.

Watch the Denver Experience

We captured some of the Denver experience on video, and I encourage you to take a few minutes to watch it. It provides a glimpse into the people, conversations, energy, and purpose behind the Offsite Construction & Leadership Series.

The response we received following Denver reinforced why we want to continue creating these experiences. People want to learn about innovation and what is changing in construction, but there is also a desire for more meaningful conversations about leadership, relationships, culture, communication, personal growth, and navigating uncertainty.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Sponsors

An event like this does not happen because one person creates an agenda. It happens because people and organizations believe in the vision and are willing to help bring it to life.

We are incredibly grateful to the sponsors and partners who supported our Denver event: Wesco, EDA Contractors, FourA Constructs, Specialized Transportation, Mandeville Modular, Uni-Frame, Be Your Absolute Best, Viking Carrier, Offsite Dirt Network, Offsite Pro Directory, DIRTT, Elements, Connective Coaching, J Social Marketing, Goodmans, and Ryan Ware.

Your support represented much more than putting a logo on an event. You helped us create an environment where people could step away from their normal schedules, meet new people, learn from one another, challenge their thinking, and have conversations that don't always happen at a traditional construction conference.

Thank you for believing in the importance of leadership. Thank you for investing in relationships and connection. Thank you for supporting the people who are working every day to move this industry forward. Most importantly, thank you for believing in what the Offsite Construction & Leadership Series, powered by Becoming Human Again Events, can become.

Building the Future Requires More Than Technology

There is no question that technology will play an enormous role in the future of construction. Artificial intelligence, automation, manufacturing, digital design, robotics, modularization, and prefabrication are already changing how we think about designing, producing, and delivering buildings.

But technology alone will not determine where our industry goes next. The people using those tools, making decisions, leading companies, managing projects, solving problems, and developing relationships will ultimately determine how successfully we move forward.

That means how we show up matters. How we communicate when a project becomes difficult matters.

How we treat the people working in our factories, offices, and jobsites matters. How we listen to different perspectives matters. How we respond when something doesn't go according to plan matters. Leadership doesn't only happen in the executive office; it happens every day through conversations, decisions, relationships, and the environments we create for the people around us.

This is where the Offsite Construction & Leadership Series has an important role. We are not moving away from conversations about projects, manufacturing, technology, innovation, and the business of construction. We are expanding those conversations to include the human side of the industry because the two are deeply connected.

The Conversation Continues

Denver was the beginning of a larger conversation. The Offsite Construction & Leadership Series, powered by Becoming Human Again Events, will continue bringing together construction professionals, business leaders, innovators, and industry experts to explore what it takes to move our industry forward while creating stronger leaders and stronger relationships along the way.

At Offsite Dirt Network, we have always believed in sharing the real stories and experiences of the people changing construction. This series gives us an opportunity to take that mission deeper. We can continue talking about what we are building, how we are building it, and the technologies changing the way work gets done, while also creating space to examine how we lead, how we connect, and who we are becoming in the process.

Denver showed us what can happen when we bring those conversations together. To every speaker, sponsor, attendee, partner, and person who helped make the day possible, thank you. Your willingness to participate, contribute, connect, and support this vision made the event what it was, and we are excited about where this series goes next.
