Who is Matthew Barbercheck?

Matthew Barbercheck teaches industrial arts to students ages 12 to 18 in rural Michigan.

He works with students who have very different levels of industrial aptitude.

What is CapableMaker?

CapableMaker is a platform created by Barbercheck.

It is designed to deliver step-by-step projects, workflows, and procedures in small, bite-sized pieces.

The goal is to help students retain information better and help teachers deliver information better.

Why he created it

Barbercheck says empowerment and confidence are top priorities in teaching.

He wants learners to receive one specific piece of information at a time so they can understand it, feel successful, and move to the next step.

He connects this approach to concerns about mental health since COVID.
